ABOUT US
WORKING METHODS:
- Strengthening the support of civil society, making it systematic and ensuring coordination among institutions by creating a network between NGOs, professional associations, other specialized institutions, experts and volunteers willing to support prison reform efforts;
- Leading the dialogue between NGOs working in the field of penal reform and the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses. Making criticisms and suggesting alternative solutions during this dialogue as necessary;

- Creating a data bank which will contain projects and contact details of all NGOs working in the field of penal reform and sharing it with all interested institutions in order to strengthen coordination and to contribute to the initiation of activities that will complement each other;
- Raising awareness and informing the public about the penal system. Giving impartial, correct and clear information to the public on penal reform, human rights, activities of international, national, local institutions and associations through bulletins and other publications. Raising awareness of and informing the written and visual media;
- Strengthening public support for alternative sanctions by taking into consideration the harmful effects of prisons on the individual and recognizing the importance of the role of society in the social and psychological reintegration of prisoners;
- Assisting the NGOs which support CSSP in developing projects and their implementation, as well as providing them with technical support and expertise as necessary;
- Sharing information with interested parties on best practices in penal reform in Europe and Turkey through regular publications, and providing support to expand these practices as necessary;
- Developing NGO training programs and tools in various fields in order to contribute to the implementation of human rights standards in prisons and providing training in these areas;
- Preserving and presenting visual and written works by prisoners in archives and in publications;
- Organizing local, regional and international conferences, seminars and study visits which will bring together NGO representatives working in the field of penal reform, the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses and governmental representatives, and in this way encouraging the exchange of information and the formulation of plans for the future;
- Developing cooperation with NGOs and other institutions working in the area of human rights and penal reform in neighboring and other countries.
