AIMS

• To mobilize civil society support to bring standards in the prisons of Turkey in line with international standards;

• To make prisons transparent and to strengthen their links with civil society;

• To reduce the use of prisons by contributing to the implementation of alternative sanctions and measures, which are restorative and encourage social reintegration, while taking into account the needs of victims, and to the expansion of crime prevention measures.

 

PRINCIPLES

• Rejects all types of verbal, physical and psychological violence;

• Acknowledges that the problems of the prison system are the problems of society and that society needs to take responsibility for the prison system;

• It is impartial. Its field of work covers risk groups, the rights, problems and needs of all prisoners, former prisoners and prison personnel, without discrimination.
